Skin Lesion Excision by Laser

The excision of skin lesions is a very common procedure to remove skin tags, moles, keratoses, and much more. However, some of the traditional approaches often used by dermatologists tend to leave behind marks such as discoloured patches and small scars. On the other hand, ablative lasers can remove skin lesions with the benefit of virtually no scarring and less downtime. We at Physimed Medispa can remove just about any skin lesion on the face or body using different lasers such as the Nd:Yag and Erb:Yag.

Here are some examples of skin lesions we can remove.

Skin tags

Skin tags removal

A skin tag is a small growth of flesh-coloured tissue that hangs from the skin. The tag is connected to the skin surface by a stalk. They are very common in all people and are increasingly common after the age of 50.

Moles & Skin Fibroma

Mole removal

Moles are small, brown to black spots that may be raised. They are caused when pigmented cells grow in a cluster, rather than spreading throughout the skin. They may change in appearance, growing or fading over the years. Mole removal by laser is a quick procedure that leaves virtually no scarring. Skin fibroma or dermatofibroma are small, firm, benign growths that can develop anywhere on the body but most commonly are found on the face, lower legs, upper arms or upper back. They may be pink, gray, red or brown.

Keratosis (seborrheic, actinic)

Keratoses are growths of keratin on the skin. There are multiple types with different causes and appearances. A seborrheic keratosis is a wart-like, waxy or scaly growth that can be brown, black or light tan. They are described as looking like they are “stuck on” to the skin. Actinic keratoses are dry, rough, scaly patches that may be pink, red, brown, and more. They are caused by UV exposure.

Angioma (cherry, hemangioma)

cherry angiomas / Red moles

Angiomas are small growths that are made up of blood vessels. There are different types of angiomas. Hemangioma are bright red birthmarks consisting of extra blood vessels under the skin surface that can appear anywhere on the body, but most commonly are found on the face, scalp, chest or back. Cherry angioma are clumped blood vessels that form a bright red circular or oval shape.

Spider veins

spider veins treatment

Spider veins are a type of angioma. They are a collection of blood vessels under the skin’s surface that resemble a red, blue or purple web made of thin lines that may be flat or only slightly raised. They are common on the nose and cheeks. They are not painful nor harmful.
